The next great idea for our schools can come from anyone: students, teachers, staff, or community members. Every year, the LEF allocates $185,000 for grants that make a positive impact on Lakeshore Public Schools.

Professional Development Grant

Up to $25,000 awarded annually
Applications are available for online submission February 1- April 15
Do you have a great opportunity to develop and strengthen your professional talents and skills by attending a conference, seminar, workshop, college course or other experience?
The Professional Development Grant is for staff who seek to bring continual energy, talent and passion to their roles. It builds on the excellence of our staff by providing professional development opportunities in addition to those provided by the district.
Single grants are available in an amount up to $750 to cover the costs of registration and fees. A per diem for travel, meals and hotel will be considered if requested and will depend on available funds. Please note, if the Professional Development activity occurs on a school day, you must include $100/day in your request to pay for a substitute in your absence.
Deadlines: Applications are available online and may be submitted February 1 – April 15. Allow plenty of time to complete your application and to obtain any required signatures. The LEF is unable to accept late submissions.
Electronic Submissions: Grants must be submitted electronically, but we have provided several resources to assist you in this process.
Please keep in mind that there are limited funds and that applications will be evaluated through a competitive process. Areas the application will be assessed on:
1. Whether the request meets the grant application criteria.
2. Whether the request supports the LEF Mission Statement.
3. How the request enhances, enriches, or expands the curriculum or academic experience.
4. How the request enhances, enriches, or expands the curriculum or program.
5. Whether it relates to a new or innovative skill, technique or methodology.
6. If it presents a reasonable and sufficiently itemized budget request.
7. Whether it has defined and obtainable objectives.
Applicants will be notified within 5 weeks of the application deadline.
Staff Support Grant

Up to $35,000 awarded annually
Applications are available for online submission July 1- October 15
Do you have an idea for a quality educational experience that would benefit Lakeshore students, staff, and/or the community? If your proposal costs up to $2,500 and could be completed within the year following the grant award, you should consider applying for Staff Support grant.
We are looking for proposals that are creative, innovative and supportive of the LEF mission statement.
The proposal should be something the district endorses but is unable to fund within its current budget. For inspiration, take a look at the complete list of recent awards.
Deadlines: Applications are available online between July 1- October 15. Allow plenty of time to complete your application and to obtain any required signatures. LEF is unable to accept any late submissions.
Electronic Submissions: We accept only grants that are submitted electronically, but we have provided several resources to assist you in this process.
Please keep in mind that there are limited funds and that applications will be evaluated through a competitive process. Areas the application will be assessed on:
1. Whether the request meets the grant application criteria.
2. Does the proposal support the LEF Mission Statement?
3. Reach a larger number of students in a positive way?
4. Is the proposal clearly stated?
5. Are the goals realistic and worthwhile?
6. Is the project both innovative and curriculum related?
7. Is the budget request reasonable and sufficiently itemized?
8. Are objectives defined and obtainable?

Patti Florian Student Enrichment Grant

Patti Florian Student Enrichment Grants are awarded for activities or events that promote self-improvement through exploration, discovery, study and interaction. This could include, but is not limited to: workshops, retreats, camps or lessons, all of which could serve as a springboard to further exploration or mastery.
Patti Florian Student Enrichment Grants are intended to serve as a means of access to experiences and opportunities outside of ongoing lessons, team and school curriculum activities. Patti Florian Student Enrichment Grants support student enrichment and fund learning experiences; providing opportunities to expand awareness of student interests and curiosities.
If you are a Lakeshore student in any grade, kindergarten through high school, this grant may be of interest to you! By taking some time to prepare an application, you may receive funds to support your interests. The LEF does not consider grades and family economics in evaluating the application.

1. Complete this application
2. Provide a copy of the program brochure & registration form (on the second page you will be able to upload a scanned copy)
3. Submit a copy of your most recent grade report (to verify Lakeshore School enrollment - on the second page you will be able to upload a scanned copy)
4. Provide three letters of recommendation: (upload this on the second page)
a) One from a teacher, former teacher, or school official
b) One from a community member
c) One from a non-relative personal reference
5. A written essay of 50-100 words explaining your purpose/goals for attending this program (upload this on the second page)
6. If you receive this grant, share a brief summary of your experience, once completed

Foundation Project Grant

Up to $110,000 awarded annually
Applications are available for online submission February 1 - April 15
The best ideas in education come from teachers, and LEF supports these ideas with our grants. Do you have a big idea for a quality educational experience that would benefit a large constituency of Lakeshore students, staff, and/or the community? If your idea would cost more than $2,500 you should consider applying for a Foundation Project Grant.
We are looking for creative, innovative proposals that support the LEF mission statement. Your proposal should be endorsed by the district. Look at the complete list of recent awards; yours may be the next big idea!
Deadlines: Applications are available online February 1- April 15. Allow plenty of time to complete your application and to obtain any required signatures. The LEF is unable to accept any late submissions.
